
The desire to create Decadent Desserts has been within me from the beginning. I could feel the longing to produce delicious pastries as a young girl while standing next to my grandmother as she would make beautiful apple pies from scratch. As I grew older I enrolled in cooking classes and worked at several restaurants. When it came time to choose a college to explore my gift, I was fortunate enough to be accepted into The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park , New York. During my years in college I was blessed to study alongside top chefs in their field, grow my knowledge of all areas of the art of cooking and most importantly find the love of my life, my husband Chris. Two children later we are still as happy and excited about each other and cooking as the day we met.
Upon graduating with an Associates Degree I spent a good deal of time on beautiful Cape Cod Massachusetts working at Chatham Bars Inn and Chillingsworth. After many years in New England, I felt the need to return to my roots. With the knowledge and skills I have perfected over the years, my return to the Philadelphia area started with a bang as I was hired at the 5 Star restaurant Le Bec Fin working for the master chef Georges Perrier. I spent several years working the line preparing the city’s most delicious steaks, fishes and sauces. While I enjoyed the time I spent on the line, I could not shake the yearning that I have had since I was a little girl. I made the move to the pastry side of Le Bec Fin. The hours were long, the stress was immeasurable, but the gratification of seeing decadent creations made it all worth it. The hard work paid off and in a short time I was promoted to Sous Pastry Chef.
After 8 amazing years, I felt it was time to take a step back and focus on my other passion . . . my two wonderful boys Christopher and Dylan. Watching them grow and explore their own talents has been a blessing. Now that they are both in school full time, I felt it was finally time for me to rekindle my passion for baking once again. With the incredible support of my family I created “Decadent Desserts by Stefanie”.
Unlike your local bakery where you will find duplicates of the same standard cakes and pies, “Decadent Desserts by Stefanie” creates desserts that you would find in New York and France’s finest Patisseries. Each dessert is made to order with the finest ingredients and the utmost attention to detail. My goal is to create desserts that not only taste decadent but truly are a piece of art work.
